Abstract:
The program silVlow was developed to solve the saturated-unsaturated porous media equation on two-dimensional domains and is realized hardware independent using ANSI-C. Special attention on applications in soil hydraulics is reflected in the boundary conditions and source terms. The numerical realization is based on backward time differences and a fully implicit fe-discretisation with linear elements on a user-defined triangular grid. This leads to symmetric systems which are solved by a pcg-method with a problem-adapted preconditioner. Augmented with an adaptive time step strategy one gets an efficient and flexible implementation.
