A simulation model describing the growth of winter wheat in response to agronomic and environmental consequences of decisions made by the user who is cast in the role of the farmer. Both mechanistic and empirical algorithms describe numerous environmental and biological processes operating on the growing crop. Agricultural practices are then introduced as the crop develops through time to harvest. Results are assessed from factors such as final yield and protein content against the extent to which pesticides and irrigation had to be employed, and the release of nitrate to aquatic systems.
